The Body Before the Story

There are stories women carry for years that feel so familiar they begin to sound like truth.

I’m too much.

I should be able to cope.

I can’t trust myself.

I have to do everything myself.

I need to keep everyone happy.

I don’t know what I want anymore.

But what if some of those stories did not begin in your mind?

What if they began as states in your body?

Your female nervous system is continually receiving information from inside you and from the world around you: from relationships, facial expressions, tone of voice, belonging, pressure, expectation, memory, hormones, sensation and the environment you are moving through.

Long before you consciously decide what something means, your body may already be responding.

And over time, the ways you have learned to protect connection, avoid rejection, carry responsibility, stay useful, stay agreeable or keep everything together can become woven into how you experience yourself.

This is where The Body Before the Story begins.

In this free live masterclass, we are going beneath the surface of the thoughts you have about yourself and into your body that is shaping them.

We will explore how the female nervous system influences what you feel, what you believe, what you tolerate, what you reach for, what you silence and what you allow yourself to receive.

You will learn about interoception - your capacity to sense what is happening inside your body, and neuroception, the continual way your nervous system reads the world around you for cues of safety, threat and belonging.

We will explore why you can intellectually know that you are safe, worthy, capable or allowed to choose differently, while another part of you still contracts, hesitates, explains, pleases, overgives or disappears.

We will look at the ways shame, fawning, the good girl, over-responsibility and hyper-independence can gradually make other people’s needs louder than your own sensations and we will begin to ask a different question.

Rather than immediately asking: “Why am I like this?”

What happens when you become curious about: “What is happening in my body before the story begins?”

During this masterclass, we will explore:

How nervous-system state can shape the stories you tell yourself

Why belonging can become more important than instinct

How chronic stress and relational pressure can disconnect you from preference, desire, boundaries and choice

Why receiving support, rest, intimacy, money, pleasure or care can feel surprisingly exposing

How your cycle, hormones and life stage influence the way your nervous system experiences the world

Why self-trust is not built through thinking harder, but through deepening relationship with what your body is actually communicating

How resensualising begins through small moments of sensation, impulse, rhythm, preference and choice

There will also be an embodied practice where I will invite you to bring a current decision, desire or situation into awareness and begin noticing:

What happens in your throat, chest, tummy and pelvis?

What story appears?

Is there an impulse to hurry, contract, explain, please, disappear or make yourself smaller?

Whose approval does that story seem to seek?

And beneath all of that…

What is the quietest bodily truth present?

You do not need any previous experience of somatic work.

Come exactly as you are.

Bring a journal, somewhere comfortable to sit, and enough space to listen.

This masterclass is for you if:

You are tired of understanding yourself intellectually while still finding yourself inside the same patterns.

You are the one who copes.

The one who carries.

The one who notices everyone else.

The one who finds it easier to give than receive.

The one who can sense that there is a deeper voice inside you, but it has become difficult to hear beneath responsibility, shame, expectation and the needs of everyone around you.

You may already have done years of personal work.

And yet there are moments when your body still says something very different from what your mind knows.

This class is an invitation to begin listening there.

About Charli

I’m Charli Wall, founder of Wild Awakening and ATTUNE.

My work centres around the female nervous system, embodiment, shame, belonging, relational patterns and the ways women lose, and slowly reclaim contact with their own instinct, rhythm, voice, desire and inner knowing.

I weave nervous-system education with somatic work, the female body, cyclical wisdom and the deeper relational experiences that shape how a woman learns to inhabit herself.

The Body Before the Story is a doorway into that work.

Because when you begin to understand the language of your body, you can begin to recognise what belongs to protection, what belongs to conditioning, what belongs to the people around you…and what is actually yours.

I'll see on Sunday, 20th September
